Jiffy Steamer J-2000M Review (Updated March ’20)

As it currently stands, the vast majority of household steamers on the market fit into one of two categories: lightweight or heavy-duty. Each type of steamer has its own list of pros and cons, its own target demographic and its own suitable uses. The Jiffy Steamer J-2000M; however, meets somewhere in the middle of either extreme, offering many of the benefits of both types of steamers while removing a few of the downsides which they often exhibit.

The Jiffy Steamer J-2000M may perhaps lean a bit closer to the heavier side of the spectrum, though it still offers some of the advantages of more lightweight products. As such, you’ll still find it great at tackling larger jobs, though it may be a bit more suitable than heavier units at quick touch ups. While it may not be the best unit for those who need something exclusively for large or for small jobs, it’s great if you’re unsure of the future or know that you’ll have different cleaning needs on different days of the week.

The Jiffy Steamer J-2000M’s steam time is quite long at a solid one and a half hours. This is one area where the steamer in question distinguishes itself as being somewhere in the middle of the spectrum while still offering a bit of both worlds. Even though it’s not as heavy as many other similar products on the market, its steam time is still perfect. Unless you plan on steaming the inside of two or three cars, you should always be able to get the job done in one filling. Considering this unit is made for clothing, you’ll likely never find yourself in a situation where its steam time proves to be too short in duration. As such, you can be sure you’re not paying for a gigantic steam time which you may not even use.

If the Jiffy Steamer J-4000M (the Jiffy Steamer J-2000M’s more heavy-duty counterpart) scared you away through its rather long heating time, you may find this particular unit much more agreeable with its five-minute heating time. In fact, even though the Jiffy Steamer J-2000M’s steam time is only 25% shorter in length than its heavy-duty counterpart, its initial heat-up time is 66% percent lower. How the manufacturer managed to achieve such a feat really doesn’t matter. The fact of the matter is that this particular steamer will give you a great heating time relative to its overall water capacity.

Outside of the above factors, which go on to increase the unit’s level of effectiveness indirectly, you should find that the Jiffy Steamer J-2000M does a great job of tackling medium to large-sized jobs efficiently and with ease. It does so through the use of its rather high amount of wattage, as well as its easy-to-use head and quite long hose. In terms of effectiveness alone, this steamer is easily one of the very best on the market.

As with all Jiffy Steamers, breaking this unit is not an easy task; even if you try to break it. This largely due to the head and hose that the unit is equipped with. While the two pieces aren’t exactly armored, you’ll find that their joints are very secure. This is rather important, being that cleaning utilities such as steamers – which have several large joints – are most likely to first begin malfunctioning where two given pieces conjoin. The plastic used on the outside of the body is also quite durable, protecting it against falls and similar mishaps.

The Jiffy Steamer J-2000M comes with a three-year warranty which protects it against manufacturing defects. While three years isn’t the longest you’ll ever see in warranties among products of this type, it’s certainly above average. You’ll also likely find that your steamer well outlives its warranty. Despite this, it’s still nice to have at least some degree of assurance that your new product will work for any given period of time.

Possibly the best part about this steamer is that, despite having a few features which resemble slightly more lightweight units, it has none of the apparent downsides typically inherent in such products. It truly offers much of the good found in many different types of steamers without all of the bad. Unless you plan on using your new unit for hundreds of square feet of carpet, you’ll always find it able to tackle any job you may throw at it without it feeling to clunky in nature, making it one of the very best steamers for use in the home.
